Vocational training remains in the spotlight of young people

Create a bad reputation and go to sleep” That is what has happened to Vocational Training in our country for years. At least, until now.

It has been the ugly duckling of our educational system to the benefit of the Universities, which, with their “titulitis” have proven to be for many years, great machines for producing “unemployed people in their field”, with walls full of degrees, but in unstable and poorly paid jobs at best, and for which they presented themselves as “overqualified”.

And then the million-dollar question arises: Were these saddlebags necessary for this trip? Can this country afford the waste of having the best-prepared young people in history… but without work?

In Spain, four out of ten young people are unemployed, making us the country with the highest youth unemployment rate in the OECD.

But of course, “a lean dog is always hungry” and at the moment, there are not enough places to meet the demand.

Being left out could mean losing a year of your life doing nothing, waiting to see if you’ll be luckier next year, but for how long?

Public schools are not prepared to meet demand: in Madrid, 18,000 students have been left without places; in Catalonia, 14,000 students.

Some have tried to study their chosen specialty at a private center, but they do not have enough places to meet all the requests and have made a selection.

As a positive fact to take into account, the future law is born with an economic report of  5,474 million euros, of which 1,550 million euros come from the European recovery and resilience funds through the European Funds “Next Generation EU”

Why is this Law so necessary?

Because the jobs that will be generated by digitalization and the ecological transition in Spain, the two great transformative elements of the economic model, will need to be filled by professionally qualified people, at least with the so-called post-compulsory secondary level, that is intermediate-level vocational training.

It is a matter of State.

Forecasts for Spain in 2025 indicate that 49% of jobs will require intermediate qualifications (technician and higher technician) and only 14% of jobs will require low qualifications.

The current situation of the labor market indicates that, while many people cannot find work, the business system is unable to fill some of its job vacancies because it cannot find professionals with the necessary qualifications.

And this is due to two reasons:

  • There are a high number of people without qualifications that meet the needs of today’s economy.
  • We have a high number of people who are overqualified for the work they do.

What can you do?

Having reached this point and knowing that the country will need to increase the number of intermediate-qualification professionals, you can choose two paths:

  • The longest path of public vocational training and waiting a few years to finish
  • If you don’t want to wait so long and are looking for quality training that you can start now, your solution may be in the Master in Tax, Accounting, and Labor Consulting from the School of Advisors of AYUDA T PYMES
